Ingredients
- 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet instant yeast (7 g)
- ½ cup warm milk
- ½ cup butter or lard, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 egg yolk (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Add mashed potatoes, butter, egg, and yeast mixture.
- Knead until a soft, smooth dough forms.
- Cover and let rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Roll dough to about ¾-inch thickness on a floured surface.
- Score the top lightly with a knife in a crisscross pattern.
- Cut out small rounds using a biscuit cutter or glass.
- Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Brush tops with egg yolk.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
