Hungarian Plum Cake (Szilvás Pite)

Szilvás pite is a traditional soft, buttery cake filled with juicy plums and a light hint of cinnamon. It’s simple, rustic, and very popular in late summer when plums are in season.

Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 3 eggs

3. Assemble

Spread the batter evenly in the pan. Arrange plum slices on top, skin side up or down. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

4. Bake

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 35–45 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

5. Finish

Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar.
