Garlic Chili Sauce- Restaurant style!
This restaurant-style Garlic Chili Sauce is a versatile, savory-sweet glaze that pairs perfectly with steamed greens like bok choy or as a dipping sauce for appetizers. The combination of oyster sauce and honey provides a thick, glossy finish that clings to vegetables and proteins.
Ingredients
- 8-10 cloves Minced garlic
- 4 tbsp Oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp Sweet chili sauce
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Honey
- 1 tsp Sesame oil
Preparation Method
1
Aromatize the Garlic
Low heat
Heat the 1 tsp of sesame oil in a small saucepan over low-medium heat. Add the 8-10 cloves of minced garlic and sauté until fragrant and just beginning to turn golden. Do not let it brown too deeply, as it will become bitter.
2
Build the Flavor Base
Whisk together
Add the 4 tbsp of oyster sauce, 1 tbsp of sweet chili sauce, and 1 tbsp of soy sauce to the pan. Whisk together with the garlic until the mixture begins to simmer.
3
Glaze and Finish
Final thicken
Stir in the 1 tbsp of honey. Continue to simmer for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and develops a high-gloss sheen.
4
Serve or Store
Apply warm
Drizzle the warm sauce immediately over steamed bok choy or grilled chicken. Alternatively, let it cool and store in a glass jar for up to one week.
Perfect Pairings
This sauce is traditionally served over blanched baby bok choy, but its balanced profile makes it an excellent choice for:
- Steamed Broccoli: The garlic bits nestle perfectly into the florets.
- Grilled Shrimp Skewers: Use it as a final glaze during the last minute of cooking.
- Tofu Stir-Fry: Adds a punch of umami to neutral plant-based proteins.
