The “Garden Secret” for Scalp Vitality: Homemade Rosemary Oil

The Infusion Process

1

Clean and Dry

Crucial for shelf life

Wash your rosemary thoroughly. You must let it dry completely. Any water left on the leaves can cause the oil to go rancid or develop mold over time.

2

The Low-Heat Infusion

60 minutes on low

Place the rosemary and carrier oil in a small saucepan over the lowest possible heat. You want a very gentle simmer — never a boil. High heat destroys the delicate carnosic acid you’re trying to extract.

3

Steep and Strain

Cooling phase

Remove from heat and let the rosemary sit in the oil as it cools to room temperature. This final steep maximizes the “vitality” of the blend. Strain the oil through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth.

4

Bottle and Store

Dark, cool place

Transfer to your dark glass bottle. Store it in a cool, dry cupboard. It should stay fresh and potent for up to 3 months.

How to Use for Results

  1. Section the hair: Apply the oil directly to the scalp using a dropper.
  2. The 5-Minute Massage: Use your fingertips in circular motions. This mechanical stimulation works synergistically with the rosemary to move blood to the hair follicles.
  3. Wait: Leave the oil in for at least 30 minutes (or overnight) before washing out with a gentle shampoo.

Safety Note: Always perform a patch test on your inner arm before applying any homemade oil to your entire scalp to check for sensitivity.
