Why You Should Mix Rosemary and Cloves
The “Focus & Refresh” Hair and Room Tonic
This multi-purpose infusion can be used as a scalp rinse to promote growth or as a refreshing room spray to clear the air.
| Prep Time | 5 Minutes |
| Steep Time | 20 Minutes |
| Shelf Life | 7 Days (Refrigerated) |
Ingredients
- 3-4 Fresh Rosemary sprigs (or 2 tbsp dried)
- 1 tbsp Whole Cloves (avoid using powder, as it makes the liquid cloudy)
- 2 cups Filtered Water
- Optional: 1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar (if using as a hair rinse for extra shine)
Preparation Method
1
Boil and Steep
The extraction phase
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Place the rosemary and cloves in a heat-safe glass jar or bowl. Pour the boiling water over them.
2
Cover and Rest
20-30 minutes
Cover the container with a lid or saucer. This is critical—it prevents the volatile essential oils from escaping with the steam. Let it steep until the water turns a deep amber color.
3
Strain and Cool
Room temperature
Strain the solids through a fine-mesh sieve. Let the liquid cool completely before transferring it to a spray bottle.
4
Application
Scalp or Space
For Hair: Spray onto the scalp after washing and massage in. Do not rinse. For Home: Mist into the air or onto linens for a natural, chemical-free fragrance.
A Quick Tip: If you’re using this as a hair tonic, the addition of a small amount of Apple Cider Vinegar helps seal the hair cuticle, making your hair smoother and shinier while the rosemary and cloves work on the roots.
